More Information

Who: This class can take any student beginning his or her Latin journey. Though it would certainly help to have finished Scott & Jones, the class will move forward from beginning of the book, so no previous experience with Latin is required. This class is open to students from Form 2A Upper to Form 3A (grades 6-8, ages 12-14). I’m capping this class at 12 students to ensure high quality relationship-building which is at the heart of all learning, whether mediated digitally or in-person.

When: Classes are 45 minutes long, twice per week meeting 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. About 15 minutes per day should be reserved for homework, which will mostly be readings, written narrations, and short exercises. We will pay by term, and the first term’s payment will be due before class begins on Aug. 22nd.

How: We will be starting in Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata at Chapter 1. No previous knowledge is necessary, but a strong foundation in English grammar will always pay dividends and Scott & Jones will certainly help with vocabulary and some of the basics of verbs and nouns.

Where: We will meet online using a software link that will be sent to you after registration.

Materials: We will be using Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata which is available for purchase here at the Hackett website (use the coupon code PLUTARCH to receive free shipping and 20% off!); I recommend the hardcover if you think more than one child will use this text. Amazon also carries the paperback for about $29, a few dollars less than Hackett.

Cost: $250 per term (sibling discounts automatically applied)
